personally, the answer is "earn more, spend less"

for government, that becomes "get out of the people's way"

The govt can minimalize itself,cut its spending(especially the large pork spending)promote people on welfare or Government aid to actually work,instead of just putting their hand out every month,And they can stop infringing on peoples freedoms and rights...Oh wait you said to better the world...there is no world government.

Since The Endless War between Palestinians and Israelis has not been something which can ever bring peace might a Peacekeeping approach be something to try. Palestinians organisations which have made use of terrorism may have ceased to already but what of Peacekeeping in own land. The way the sitaution appears to other eyes is that of two nations in one land. The suggestion this make Soldiers into Peacekeepers which have strong U.N. to back them. Palestinians not from organisations involved in specific acts to become Peacekeepers with strong U.N. possible.Reason neither Israel nor Palestinians trust U.N. for such mission too weak right now. Still idea is as much keeping sucessfull peace with idea of making conflict less volatile. Moving on to protecting rights of others in world.

The Government is at its best when it is no longer necessary and has lost its uselfulness!

At which point, we as a people, believe enough to achieve what we need ourselves to enjoy life, rather than being told how to enjoy life and be controlled by an entity which we have absolutely no control.

Everyone must respect other, accept him and always think that there is different between you and others so they are not the same, what you know is not only the right thing because somebody else might believe in opposite thing, and for the Governments I think we have to change all the Governments all over the world.
