How can we make volleyball, a popular sport in india?

volleyball is a great sport,  so is soccer, and field hockey, but the problem is that no one wants to support them, the whole country is crazed about cricket ( WHICH WE SUCK AT). we need state teams for each sport and we need big companies to support them. Look at English Barkleyes soccer league. Each team is sponsored by a company, and in-turn they get better players, cause they can send out scouts, also its a great advertisement for them.  India does have great players but no one is willing to sponsor them. Too much politics, everything should be privatized.  I know we can have great teams for any sport if there is financial backing.  

P.S forget cricket. we suck at it, even scotland and ireland are better, ( look at the world cup, thats what counts, not petty matches against Bangladesh) we can do it. and we need more people in Olympics next year.

we can popularize it but it is very costly.we can give kids about volley ball & teach them the different types of volley ball . and they will teach to others by this way volley ball can be popularized .we can do it also by media.

better news coverage of our national team and if our national team win more matches then it will help to make this game popular. Schools should have their tournament. More active selection of players so that our team can become good.

I would think that most sports start from a youth experience 8 years to 15 years old.   I'm not familiar with your education system but if your schools emphasize it then it will pick up with kids.  There are many types of volleyball from indoor, beach, partying with the family.  Media exposure obviously helps.

Only when the India volleyball team wins a a major international tournament or a medal in Asian games or something,that the popularity of the game will increase.All  news channels will then talk about the game and its players,thereby increasing the general public interest,which will encourage youngsters to take up the game.
