How can we possibly keep a straight face and demand Russia pull out of Georgia?

After invading Iraq - in defiance of the UN - based upon intelligence that was suspect at best... How can we possibly sit with a straight face and demand Russia to pull out of Georgia?

Why don't you read some facts about Georgia, how it started the war on the day of Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

Georgians and their US-masters would never be forgiven for recent mass slaughter in South Ossetia. Brutal massacre of S. Ossetian civilians by Georgian army during the first days of military operation was nothing but an extreme point of man-hatred. A few examples of acts of genocide are given below.

The road from regional hub Znaur to the village of Dzhava is covered with corpses of S. Ossetian civilians - including women, elders and children. It’s still impossible to bury the dead as all moving objects in that area immediately come under fire of Georgian snipers and artillery.  

Tkhsinval, August 8, 2008. According to eyewitnesses a group of S. Ossetian children was burnt alive inside two refugee’s minibuses which headed to Vladikavkaz.

The Khetagurovo massacre - another tragedy of Zharsk province. All young ladies of Khetagurovo village were kidnapped and driven away in unknown direction. Other villagers - men, women and elders were blocked in the building of local church and set on fire. Children were murdered separately. Georgians chopped children’s heads off in presence of their parents. Kidnapped girls have been raped and tortured, their genitals disfigured.

We want to believe that after all Saakashvili’s junta will face adeserved trial soon.

Frankly the United States is in no position to demand without the backing of military strength and strong diplomatic channels. The world powers have the ability to read our newspaper and now our financial state a military overburden and overstretched. Bush would have to go back to China with hand in hat; this time on his knees. That aint gonna happen.

Yeah, and if we invade Russia, it would be suicide.  

I just watched a Nat Geo special on the H-Bomb, and the prospect of a nuclear war (or as GW Bush would call it a "Nu-Q-lar" war) wouldn't be pretty.

I would hate for my summer to be ruined by being incinerated by H-Bombs blowing up everywhere!  (Boy, talk about Global Warming)!

I kind of agree with you, but not with the basis of your question.

The invasion of Georgia does have some similarities to the NATO dismantling of Yugoslavia... not Iraq.

We can't, but then again we should set the example and pull our troops out of Iraq.  They can stay in Afghanistan for now.

Me we invaded Iraq to liberate the people and hold free and fair elections RUssia is invading Georgia to annex it witch it has no right to do....the two situations are totaly different I want NATO,US and the Eu to give Russia 48 hours to pull out before santions take place and than 1 week before we deploy troops....

And it wasnt only the US that thought iraq had nukes, alot of countries did.  Or maybe it was just a cover up for oil just like russia invading georgia.  IM SAYING MAYBE.

What is it with you Pro-Russian who seem to think all this just happened on Aug 8th?Its like your all stuck on that date?Why dont you go get your facts and back up in time,and why dont you tell everyone about how Russia has been using the S.Ossetians by giving them Arms and allowing them to shoot at Georgians..Why dont you explain why Russia JUST happen to have an invasion size force just sitting their waiting..Tell everyone about how Russia was using the S.Ossetians to bait the Georgians to act on S.Ossetian agression..

Russia has been itching for an excuse to go into Georgia because Russia does'nt like the Idea of Georgia joining the EU or NATO..
