  1. put note on bin not to break glass..put glass only container...don't know where u live in my area..we trash glass...county recycled it for a while and i cost a lot to sell it..they ended up putting it in landfill anyway

  2. Most glass today is mixed with plastic and isn't actually glass. You should check with your local recycling center to see what they can accept. Beer bottles and wine bottle are an exception because it is the best for storing alcohol.

  3. Same way you recycle unbroken glass. Just handle it with care.

  4. Here in the UK, we have recycling collections  (where I live, every 2 weeks). If I miss a collection, there are containers that I can go to, to get rid of the backlog. Oddly enough, although they have separate containers for cler, brown and green glass, it all goes into one wagon together, so what's the point in separating them?

As I understand it, some of the brown glass is used to manufacture a special road covering material which is laid down at pedestrian crossings. They put the material down over a distance of around 50 yards either side of the crossing, and this is intended to increase friction between tyres and road surface to slow vehicles down (if you brake really hard, it's likely to tear your tyres to shreds, but thats better than a life lost).

Check out the link below for more info.

  5. In some areas, broken glass is mixed with blacktop as a road surface. I know they used to do it where I live and they do in europe.

  6. I put broken glass in the recycling bin right along with unbroken glass, paper, plastic, and metals.  They pick it up and take it away.

  7. just put broken glass in non degradable bin, rest municipal corporation will do it self.
