I know to replace fossil fuels with green energy, fuel efficient cars, energy star appliances, but what are some other simple solutions?

  1. We could cut global carbon emissions by nearly 1/2 simply by replacing all coal fired power plants with nuclear reactors.  Nuclear power plants are zero emission.  Unfortunately, they produce radioactive waste (although newer reactor designs don't produce all that much)  However most people think of Chernobyl and 3 mile island, both of which are antiquated designs.

Cars could burn ethanol, and trucks could use bio-diesel.   Otto Diesel originally designed his engine to run on peanut oil, and the model T was originally designed to burn ethanol.   So we aren't talking new technologies.

The problem is, fossil fuels are cheap, have great energy density, and until recently, have been very plentiful.  So there has been really no economic incentive to look at alternatives, but they exist none the less.

  2. You can also buy some credits for your 'footprint'.  You would have to do a search on it, but you can pay and the company will figure out what your footprint it and replant trees and do other things to offset what your lifestyle may be doing to the environment.  You wouldn't believe what one hamburger bought at a restaurant can do to the environment!   You can also give to the foundations where they will plant trees and give to organizations that help save the rainforest, etc.

  3. solar energy, wind power, water turbines (dams rivers oceans), zero point energy, google these to find out more

  4. By making oil from biomass and putting it back in the ground. If the photosynthesis process is applied to growing lots of biomass and the biomass is made into oil it can be used to replace all the fossel fuel humans have used during the past century.

  5. Ride your bicycle or walk, whenever possible.

    Use less plastics.

Use less laundry detergent - primarily made from petroleum.

    Recycle, especially aluminum.

Grow your own garden - and be sure as much food waste as you can collect goes in there as compost.

Really, you're not going to make any significant impact but you will at least feel better by alleviating some of the 'guilt' the Socialist manipulators have inflicted on you.

I personally am a big fan of GW Bush's progress on Geothermal/Hydrogen energy.  Totally clean energy source, tapping the Earth's heat, to generate electricity and crack water to make hydrogen to run trucks and cars.  Neat stuff.

  6. Have a solar panel system
