According Wikipedia encyclopedia definition of science is: Science, in the broadest sense, refers to any system of objective knowledge. In a more restricted sense, science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge based on the scientific method, as well as to the organized body of knowledge gained through such research.

Fields of science are commonly classified along two major lines:

Natural sciences, which study natural phenomena, including biological life;

Social sciences, which study human behavior and societies

So therefore if we follow the definition of science Anthropology is a science.

Political correctness only affects the words that we use, and should not limit the field of study.

It cannot be said that cultural anthropologists, who are as far into the humanities as social scientists get, never have political agendas when they produce their research for the academy or (especially) for the public. However, cultural anthropology doesn't have to be "science" to reveal something about the world. Anyway, for the most part cultural anthropologists strive for empiricism, so at least they can usually demonstrate their point or point to theoretical implications.

Physical anthropology on the other hand, I tend to trust more to strive towards apoliticalness. Nevertheless it cannot be said that physical anthropology, or any other "real" science like astrophysics, chemistry, or economics, ever completely escapes political influence - the government is the source of their money, after all, and has a hand in determining which research projects can get underway. Nevertheless, even when physical anthropology is misinformed or explicitly in reaction to politics (such as recent articles about race and genetics), I have faith that there is at least an understanding that this information is updatable and may be refined and criticized.
