  1. Honor Codes; when a student takes an exam, he/she signs a contract stating that they have not received illegal help on it.  The professor tends to other matters while the students, honor bound, are left alone in the classroom.  Violation only means one thing:  Your *** is out of school.

Software is bug-prone and can produce false positives.  Schools that adopt Virginia-style honor codes will see the dishonesty almost completely disappear because of the serious consequences that come attached.

  2. go back to beating kids.

ha!  i just copied her answer@!

  3. put shock collars on every kid during tests, if they turn their head to look at some elses paper, they get shocked

  4. Make them all robots.

  5. I don't think that we should. It really works out for a lot of people. Let's not ruin that.

  6. We'll never stop it.  At my school, people tolerate it, so it continues.  If students were severely punished, then it would lessen, but never go away.

Also, electronics need to be banned.   Schools need to be permitted to use cell phone jammers in classrooms so that no one can send or receive texts.  That would help students focus in general.

I think we need to stop educating everyone.  Get rid of mandatory education.  Let ignorant people who hate learning and detest intellectualism remain illiterate and unskilled.  Someone needs to change my oil and paint my house and plunge my toilet.

It's the kids who don't want to be there who ruin it for everyone and lower the quality of the whole thing.  Send them to war instead.

  7. There is nothing wrong with cheating. I've cheated my whole life and the best businessmen cheat all the time.

You have understand the system to get ahead and cheating is part of the game.

  8. its getting worse now that kids have cell phones, they can text their friends asking for answers, or even use yahoo answers during their tests to get the answers..if i was a teacher, i would demand to take all computers/phones away until they are done takin their test.

  9. quit putting students under so much stress.

people do dishonest things when they are stressed.

  10. I'll tell you the're are girlfriends and boyfriends that work together that I've seen at the community college on test day. Little wispers. I used notecards under my thighs and the seat. I comes from family values. But, cameras and active teachers that walk the aisles really discouraged me. Its so nervewracking to be afraid of expulsion and have a teacher walking by you. The teacher should explain everything and answer all questions. Even a professor explaining cheating w/ a joke or two helps.

  11. go back to beating the kids

  12. lol, you can't

    integrity doesn't exist any more

all you can do is not allow students to correct their own papers and report their own grades. oh, and make different test forms

  13. you cant....it would cost to much money....but even then i think it is impossible...ppl will always find away

  14. you cant cheating woill always be a part of someones life

  15. In my opinion, it all boils down to how much someone values education and what they learn. It amazed me, going through high school and college, how many people would be dishonest, and how much energy they would put towards their dishonest efforts. If they put htat much effort in to the material they are learning they would be better person for it.

Using a variety of assessment tools can cut down on academic dishonesty (as well as unintentionally giving credit to those who are dishonest). For example, you assign a research paper.... have a confrerence with each of your students and have them talk about what they wrote about. If you suspect dishonest work, you can delve deeper in to the topic. If they really did the research or put forth the effort they should be able to expand on what they wrote about.

Its all about students applying what they know. If they are able to apply what they know to real world situations, they have learned the material and be successful. So its not all about the tests, its about the application of what they know.
