Stop the "trickle-down" economics policy... The rising tide will not lifts all boats, it only lifts strong boats, and sink the weaker boats...

You may be thinking of Enron. I remember seeing a chart which showed Standard and Poors rating for this company and it went from something like an AA to a C in the space of two years so it is obvious that someone was on to them. Of course this rating system is not available to the general public.

It takes stupid borrowers as well as stupid lenders. And then it takes the regulatory authorities to stand by and do nothing.

However, I think that the real culprits are Brown and Greenspan who together engineered low interest rates for the purpose of encouraging a run away housing market and feckless lending/borrowing. The US and UK Governments both basked in the glory of the economic boom that it created. Trouble is, it was all on borrowed money. Fat is now hitting fan.
