Question:

How can we stop the British youth from the path of self destruction they are on?

It seems there is a growing underclass who's sole aim is to be as anarchic as possible. Drunk and disorderly conduct, drug taking, casual s*x, a massive rise in STDs, no respect for authority, no respect for anyone, no respect for themselves. No aspirations, poor education, inarticulate.

In my day we all tried to better ourselves, these days it seems the fashion to downgrade. Obviously this is not all our kids but a real growing number of them. What has caused this and how to we make them see there is a better way to live.

  1. Put that Daily Mail down and go and speak to some actual teenagers instead.

  2. I don't want to pass the blame onto the parents because it's not 100% their fault what their children turn into but it's true that it DOES all start at home. You've got these lazy, jobless, brain dead parents who can't even be bothered to teach their kids to read/write for starters. So you've got kids going into high school who can't even speak proper english. When they get to high school I think that's when it starts to go downhill. I've just finished school and you can pick out certain Yr. 7s when they start, who you know are going to be wasters.

I think the area where they grow up also has an effect. If you grow up on a rough estate, with an unemployed mum and dad, surrounded by people who are constantly drinking and girls who are always pregnant, you're going to grow up thinking that's the norm and in turn, they'll beome an unemployed drunken teen parent.

You can't stop them now - it's already got out of hand. Unfortunately this small handful of rude, bad mannered scum bags make us all look bad.

  3. This is all because the stupid people who have taken away the punishment of a good smack, did not have the foresight to see that respect starts at an early age, and starts at home.

When did smacking suddenly cause social misfits, violence on our streets, and in school?

Teachers never got physical or verbal abuse when I was at school.

We got the cane for misbehaving, and when dad found out, we got another wallop as well.

Parents were respected, teachers were respected, and older people and adults, were shown respect.

Well we now have a society, where parents are not respected, parents have very little time to spend reading to their children, or helping out with the child's education.

These kids end up going to school thinking that they can do as the please, just like at home!

It's now cool to carry a knife, get so drunk, they are incapable of standing up, and the girls are just as bad, and to be seen rolling around in the gutter, was unheard of in my day!

If they get a job, they want a top wage but few of them want to do a days work.

It's now acceptable to be out of work and drawing benefit, and not looked upon as a last resort, and desperate measure as it once was!

And all this is because we are no longer allowed to instill discipline at home and at an early age!

  4. i asked a similar one not so long ago , i believe there are a few causes for this and dont care how much stick i get for saying so

1- the rise in immigrants coming over having no respect for this country , they have no money and the immigrant kids mix with british kids encouraging their bad behaviour

2- the fact parents and adults alike are no longer allowed to discipline kids properly - if parents dare give their kids a smack they can be arrested so basicaly kids know this and therefore run rings around poor parents

3- corporal punishment abolished , kids no respect for teachers or authority , as consequences are minor or dont exist , kids think they can do what they like

    THE SOLUTION

1- allow parents to smack kids when needed with no worry of arrest

    2-bring back corporal punishment

3- bring back national service style training 0r finishing schools ((compulsary for both males and females as soon as they leave school regardless of qualifications)

    4- send the immigrants back

  5. I am part of the British Youth. Trust me, things are very different from when you were a kid. There are a lot more pressures and stuff and it is actually quite offensive when people refer to us as on a 'path to self destruction.'

It is the minority of us that are like how you have described and everyone always brings them into the foreground and forgets about the many of us that are actually doing well in our lives. The way it is percieved, it does seem like a load of the kids are like that, but it is just the simple fact that all the other ones who are doing well have been pushed aside. ♥
