  1. Don't buy them, and make sure you tell them why.

  2. stop buying tem untill they do. i cut off my cabel tv.. i dont need them, they need me.. s***w em.

  3. hunger strikes...

but  seriously I think pressuring politicians to reward recycling  can help, but if the intent is to reduce global warming consider how much meat production and consumption contributes to CO2 and change that behavior:-)

  4. Don't purchase them if they aren't.

  5. According to the 2007 edition of "Writer's Market" there are nearly 18,000 magazines published in North America.  There is no tracking provided for how many of those publications are printing on recycled paper.

The trouble in bringing pressure on these magazines to go green and use recycled paper is that they have very niched audiences that are difficult to reach on any large scale.  There is very little overlap between the readers of "Chile Pepper" and "The New Yorker".

Obviously a number of magazines have gone the route of printing on recycled paper -- "Mother Jones" and "Nature Conservancy" come to mind.  Yet until there are economic benefits and incentives in place, I think this is a very hard battle to fight.
