  1. I have to say that in most kinds of company no one customer is more important than the other. All their money spends the same. If they are coming to you to pay you for doing something or selling them something you should treat them all the same. The only time I would say someone may get treated diffrent is if they have something wrong with them or elderly then you may take them first or ask the others if it is ok to take care of them so they don't have to stand and wait so long or something like that.

  2. This is a very important question to ask because if you don't ever ask it, you can waste you precious time on those customers who are simply using you and causing you to neglect the customers who are paying your bills. I'm sure you've heard the old 80/20 rule before. To refresh your memory, 80% of your business is going to come from 20% of your customer base. That's a general rule, but I'll bet if you analyze your customers, you'll see there's a lot of punch to that saying.

In sales they always want you to rank your customers as A, B or C, with A being your best customers because they buy from you and they buy from you on a regular basis; B being the customers who you may have established somewhat of a relationship with, but they may not have purchased from you yet, or have sparenly; and C being people who may know who you are from your marketing, but you haven't really built any type of relationship with. You need all three types, but if you don't pay real, real good attention and care to the A customers, you can get in troubel real, real quick.

You also have to understand one very important thing, which is hard to accept, but you have to if you want to stay in business. Just like you can't be everything to everyone, you can't make everyone happy, and you are in business to make money, so you have to pay extra attention to those customers who pay your bills for you, and pay them some special attention over the customers who are only spending a little with you. Now I'm not saying to neglect those other customers, but you sure better be spending the majority of your time on the ones who are paying your bills for you.
