  1. Glasses can kind of make you look smarter for work, but they can be annoying and uncomfortable as well. Having to clean them every now and then so you can see clearly is a bit of a pain too. I feel as though I personally look better without glasses, and for the other reasons above as well, I decided to get laser eye surgery. One of the best things I have ever done. I love not having to worry about glasses, and I think I look better wihout them too. Try the glasses first, you may not have any trouble with them, and they are cheaper than laser eye surgery. I wouldn't spend time worrying about what you look like on your driver's licence.

  2. there is a prejudice against people who wear glasses?

i didnt know that. i wear glasses because i am myopic. myopia is quite common in my region of the world, so there are many people of my age who wear glasses.

wearing glasses is not a chore, but sometimes when you come out of air conditioned places and to a warmer temperature, condensation might occur (it happens to me quite often)

as for your case, you live in australia right..

job interview, well, if you wear glasses, it shows two things

    1) you are too hardworking and have spoilt your eyesight in doing so (this is the pro)

    2) you are unable to take care of your own eyesight. (the con)

wearing glasses may make you look "uglier" or "prettier", it depends on the type of frame you choose, or your face.

drivers license - they should be giving you your drivers license if you drive properly, regardless of whether you wear glasses or not.

glasses- it's like a one time thing, you're wearing the same pair forever, unless your eyesight deteriorates then you gotta change your glasses.

if you dont want to spoil your looks, or dont want to be "out of place" wearing glasses, you can wear contacts. People can only see it if they're really near you. However, where contacts are concerned, more caution is needed. More care. You'd have to insert your contacts carefully, make sure it remains moist. Basically, you'd have to be very careful. And depends on what kind of contacts you buy. If you wear disposable contacts, you'd have to keep buying new boxes when you run out of them.

    laser eye- might be expensive.

    hope i've helped:)

  3. i've been wearing glasses since i was 10.. i'm 25. 15 years later. i'm SICK of them.

i've been wearing contact lenses since i was 13.. 12 years later.. sick of em.

i work in front of the computer 40 hours per week, and i find that glasses are a lot more comfortable in front of the computer; in fact, it's recommended by my eye doctor. i buy new glasses often (every 1 - 2 years) because i get really sick of the same frame and i need to change them up a little. i like to buy cute, interesting, designer frames and i like to think of my glasses as an accessory so that i do not end up hating them. however, the hassle of constantly having to clean them is REALLY annoying, and the fact that they don't always stay up throughout the day is annoying. i can't wear them when i'm doing any kind of physical activity and i love being active, so that's a downer. i also hate waking up and not being able to see. and it's TERRIBLE when you can't find your glasses. my glasses are expensive. i spend about $700Cdn on each pair.

as for contact lenses: i wear them when i go out, or when i'm sick of wearing my glasses. i like to wear them more often as i look better without glasses. i would prefer to wear my contacts every day but my eyes get really tired when i wear them to work so that is why i choose to wear my glasses to work instead. i buy the 1 month disposables, they come in packs of 6 and 12. i buy the 6 pack because my eyes are bad and sometimes they change after 6 months and i have to get a new prescription before buying the next 6 for the rest of the year. it's annoying because i have to keep a schedule of when i wore my contacts and when i have to throw them out. also, a few years ago i got a very serious infection from wearing contact lenses and i almost went blind in one of my eyes. it was one of the most painful experiences i have had to endure. i was stuck at home for an entire month. i had to go to the hospital everyday. i couldn't go outside because the sun would cause more pain. i just cried, slept and went to the hospital everyday until it went away! so be VERY careful with contact lenses. (this happened cuz i didn't clean them properly).

now as for laser eye surgery, after that thing happened with my eye, it kind of took the fear out of me of having laser eye surgery and i'm really considering it. i think in the long run it would save me more money, however i don't think people should be thinking about cost when it concerns your eyes. they are the only two sets you will EVER have, and money comes and goes. everyone i've met who has had laser eye surgery has only had good things to say about it. however, not everybody qualifies for laser eye surgery!

    hope this helps.

  4. For workplace- It depends on the job. If someone is going to be moving around a lot or would be in the position where their glasses can fall off a lot/get broken, then it's probably best to either talk with the employer about the best idea for what to do about that; get contacts or a different job.

Relationships and first impressions- Unfortunately, due to many stereotypes that the media/society have put into our heads, whenever we think of someone wearing glasses we either think that they're smart or a nerd. My boyfriend wears glasses, but I never thought of him as a nerd or thought he was more intelligent because of his glasses. I know he's intelligent because of his brain lol.

Drivers license- I don't live in Australia, but I know that here in USA you have to have a certain type of eyesight to be able to have a license (I think it's something like that). If you can't see well enough to drive with or without glasses, then there's a good chance you might not be qualified to drive.

Money- According to my boyfriend just now, apparently it can cost over $100, the ones he has were on sale for $150, but they're worth over $300. He's had the same pair for a while, and the only time he's ever had to really fix them was putting in a new lens or fixing a s***w, which didn't really cost him that much. But if glasses get broken beyond repair, then you'll have to by new ones, and possibly have to get your eyesight tested again (if it's been a while), and that might cost a bit too.

Uh... well I hope my rambling has helped you some? :p

  5. It's the matter of technology. Glasses, contacts, laser. Wear what you think is most comfortable.

  6. Wearing glasses is really subjective- get the right frames and you can look super cool and edgy.

They are like clothes, showing off your personality.

It's a pretty false stereotype, but people with glasses tend to be perceived as being smart- I'm not complaining though!

Doesn't really affect driver's license, if you have myopia or similar, you need to wear some kind of corrective lens.

Money... glasses are wayyy cheaper in the long term.

I guess it just comes down to what YOU feel like and what YOU feel comfortable wearing- I prefer a combination of both, I have blue tinted contacts and love the way my eyes go super-cool, but I also somehow in a placebo effect-ish effect feel smarter and more comfortable in glasses.

Hope this answers your questions, good one!
