How can you Listen to Cops?

How can you listen to cops talking on the radio?

I think it's interesting, my step-father used to have the CB on all the time when he would go to sleep.

If you mean by listening to them because it sounds lame or as a way to pass time like watching t.v.? I have no idea how people can do it. In terms of how to understand what they are saying it is really quite simple. You just look up your 10 codes on the internet and figure out what they are saying and before you know it you understand exactly what is going on.

Go to Radio Shack or something similar and buy a scanner.

I have been listening for over 20 years with a police scanner.

Buy a pro-96 from radio shack and you can start listening the same day.

It's a portable hand hald scanner and a good starter.

Then log onto RadioScanner.com for the right frequencies in your area.

You used to be able to go to radio shack and purchase a regular scanner.  Now, as of about a year ago, we have a new radio system that the scanners no longer work with.  Don't know if Radio Shack has the upgraded scanner or not.

Then you have to try and find the frequencies each department uses.
