How can you approach someone you like/show that you like them?

I'm kind of shy and I get nervous when I approach her or am around her and when she says hi to me. I just want to get over it and confront her about it and maybe go out sometime. They always smile at me and look at me during class but I just play it off like I didn't see them without a response.

I want to break out of this shyness and learn what's best to do.

Just walk up to them and ask them out. I still think about the girls I wished I talked to in school but didn't. I can't remember the ones that turned me down. Regret is billions of times harder to live with than rejection.
