Just wondering how you can find out how to arrange 6 books in a shelf?

  1. Like in a library?  It depends on the genre.

    If they're nonfiction, look at the Dewey Decimal system.

    If they're fiction, alphabetical order by author's last name.


  2. Books are arranged by either alphabetical order or numerical such as forms of libraries.. You have 6 choices for first position, then five for second position, then 4 for etc...So the answer is 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 720

  3. 6! or 6 factorial

    6! = 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 720 different ways.
