I mean serioulsy look around you. Look at all the people and animals. Look at the solar system. Do you really think that everything came from hot gases or a bang?

  1. There is a bright, very bright difference between macro and micro "evolution".  It is critical to those people who believe in evolution to blur this distinction because there is no evidence of macro evolution.  Even the staunchest creationist believes in micro evolution.  Micro evolution supports the intelligent design theory because the changes we observe in the species are the result of pre-programmed DNA sequences.  This is a very serious problem for those who believe in macro evolution.  Who did the programming?  I have not ever heard a good answer to this question.  The answer is always some convoluted response that takes an enormous amount of faith to believe in; more faith than it takes to believe in an intelligent designer.  I suppose there are some that would say the fossil record supports macro evolution, but upon closer examination, that record is just as easily explainable by an intelligent design theory as it is by a micro evolution theory.  Take "Lucy" for example.  There is no evidence that Lucy ever walked upright.  But because of faith in macro evolution the hip bones were ground down to make the bones match that of a primate that may have walked upright.  National Geographic showed on National television the "scientists" taking a grinder to this ancient, invaluable relic.  To say that it does not take "belief" to do something like this is to just ignore the facts.  Ultimately, it is an issue of faith.  It takes just as much if not more faith to believe there is no creator than to believe there is one.  And that faith comes down to one thing: whether one wants to submit their life to a higher authority and standard, or one wants to live their life for themselves.

  2. I think the big bang and evolution are the most likely explanations. I don't "believe" in them though. If someone comes up with a better theory with evidence to back it up, I'd change my mind.

  3. Try taking some time to actually learn about the science (instead of saying 'hot gases or a bang'), and you'll find it actually makes a lot more sense than you think.

  4. First I do not "believe" it, I reason it.

Seriously look around you and further (stars, galaxies): this could not have been built or created in 6 days.

Also you are missing the timescale: this has been done over a long period of time.

PS: A general remark.  People discarding cosmology,  astrophysics, physics, geology and evolutionary biology and that are theists (they say) are putting extreme limitations and God's powers and imagination.  Actually it is a form of atheism.

  5. Your argument is an argument from ignorance. Even if science could not explain one thing on your list the default position would not be " magic man done it. "

Are you intelligent enough to appreciate that?

  6. Either a god miraculously popped them into existence, or they popped into existence by themselves. Both seem equally probable.

  7. Let me tell you somthing about evolution. It is a fact. People just slap a "Micro" or Macro" on it, due to Observability. For example, when I drop a brick off a building,  and call it "micro gravity" and when I see the sun moving across the sky, that's "macro gravity". See how ridiculous that sounds? The "evolutionists" have an effect with a cause, the fundies have a cause without an effect.

  8. I reason that when God said, "let there be light" there was the big bang. Out of that big bang all of the heavens(universe) and earth(planets, moons, etc) were created.  Then God set about creating life. Life is complicated in it's simplicity. That's what makes God all powerful. Every living thing on this planet from the smallest microbe or blade of grass, to the largest animal, are made from the exact same chemicals. They are just arranged differently. On this planet alone billions of different species of life evolved. I don't think that happened by chance. There had to be cognitive thought behind it.  So shouldn't the person or being who thought up all of this stuff, then created it, be considered a God?

  9. To all those who believe evolution can't exist and complex life must have come from a creator i ask you one question...what created the creator? You don't believe in evolution but you believe that some complex being can create everything. WOW how genius are all of you?

As for evolution...I don't really know why I believe in it really. Might have something to do with evidence though but i'm not really sure.

P.S. If there is any spelling mistakes its cause I am drunk and don't care about them. Still smarter than all these blind religious folk though.

  10. I think most people believe in evolution either because they have been taught it, believe that evolution is a better explanation than God, or don't want to believe in God.  Watch Exspelled. Its a great documentary.  It talks about evolution and why even with it's many flaws is taught as fact.  For you who believe in evolution all the evidence for evolution may not be as good as you think. Lucy the supposed missing link, they found less than half of the skeleton and.  Heckles embrios were proven false years ago and are still in some text books.  How could something as complex as one cell come by random chance? If one thing wasn't functioning it would die. How is just one protien supposed to be formed? If you see five leaves lined up on the ground you believe that someone placed them there, but in evolution you're told that hundreds of things just happend to be in the same place and happend to put together in exsactly the right way just to form one protien wich isn't near forming one cell.  If just one amino acid is missing or is in the wrong place it dosn't form a protien.

  11. Why have you formed any opinion at all about evolution, when your understanding of what evolution IS, is limited to thinking it is something about "hot gases or a bang"?

This is *precisely* the problem with thinking like a Creationist.

Creationism is what happens when you try to understand science, using the methods of religion.

In religion, it is perfectly valid way of approaching faith to *believe* things you don't quite understand.  (What we call 'mysteries'.)

But science always, always, always is about *UNDERSTANDING*, not *belief*.

The very wording of your question reveals this problem.  "How can you believe ...?"

So you have decided that you "do not believe" in evolution, even though you don't have even the slightest CLUE, what evolution even is!  (Hint:  It has NOTHING to do with "hot gases or a bang.")

Again ... there is nothing wrong with putting belief before understanding in matters of faith.   But when applied to science it is a *barrier* to understanding.  Once you have decided that something is "not true" ... even if you have decided this before knowing a thing about it ... then understanding it no longer matters.   Evidence doesn't matter.   Logic doesn't matter.   You have already decided that you "do not believe it, whatever it is."

People who do this, are GUARANTEED  never to undersand science.   Ever.

  12. You need to do some research.

Find out that EVERY living creature and plant has almost the same DNA - it is said that if we could manipulate the DNA we could recreate EVERY plant or animal that has ever (or does) live on the planet ... bearing out the fact that there's a close relationship between all Flora and Fauna.

You need to do some research outside of your bible and listen to some people that know more than your preacher.

Theism is a crutch for stupid people who don't understand science.

You don't honestly believe that a perfect and completely fulfilled god woke up one morning and thought: There's an idea - I'll make some stuff that I can play havoc with.

A universe WITH a god would be completely different to one without.

  13. It is not that everything just came into being it is that something had existed before the existence of something and that was a single celled organism that evolved to a multitude of different species that go through a multitude of different changes, everything did not just come into being it was there originally. The exploration of time before the big bang is vague, but little is all we know. We know that there was either a single celled organism that survived or it was created from a compound of compressed matter and heat combined with radioactive or other types of gasses to make a cell that continued to thrive and split.

  14. Evolution makes no such argument.

You are saying Evolution....but talking about Big Bang

Evolution is biological and deals with how life diversified but makes no claims to explain origins of life or universe

Big Bang is astronomy and theoritical physics and deals with a supercritical mass that was the origin of universe.

So your question is invalid and baseless......but anyway, just as likely that is what happened than God, or Gaia or Odin or whatever made the world.

I believe in a God but if you are 100% honest, the idea of "God did it" is no more logical or reasonable than "It came from a big bang"

Robert M and WonderWye> whatever floats your boat but 1) there is NO such thing as micro or macro evolution....just Evolution...only those who wish to twist and rip truth apart say there are 2 Evolutions.  Micro is short term and Macro is long term and both are same exact thing.  2) There is NO such thing as molecules to man Evolution...that is a blending of Abiogenesis+Evolution that ID+Creationsists use to muddy the waters because they have no real flaws in Evolution to exploit...so they make them up, lie about them, and say nothing can be proven. 3) Lucy did walk upright as any objective analysis of the skeleton shows...you may not agree, but unless you have some rock solid proof to back yourself up..you're wrong. 5) WonderW you show a 100% lack of understanding since Evolution+Darwin NEVER, in any way claimed that if Evolution were true all species would end up very much alike...in fact it says life will adapt via natural selection to fill ecological niches and by that very fact it measn life must be different from each other.......your argument is 100% pure wind and no substance
