  1. give a back arch to your body after jump and hit the ball at maximum hight

  2. You need to sign up with a club team or a camp and get more experience from game minutes. Spiking is not something you can simply learn from a website, if you really think your spike sucks.

  3. The best advice I can give you about passing is to USE YOUR LEGS!  The position should be feet a little wider that shoulder's width, legs bent to 90 deg., bring your arms together so that they make as flat of a surface as possible, while making your chest concave so you can literally see down your arms (like you are looking down the barrel of a gun).

Always stay low to the ground and keep legs bent at 90 deg.  when you are going to pass the ball, move your feet to it (you know you are in the right position if when you moved your arms, the ball would bounce through your legs), and use your legs, DO NOT SWING YOUR ARMS, to 'push' the ball to where you want it to go.  Keep moving your feet after you contact the ball, it acts as a 'follow through' and make sure your chest is facing where you want the ball to go.

For a good spike, you need a good swing.  Keep your elbow high above your head, contact the ball high in the middle of your palm, swing hard while snapping your wrist and follow through. (hand should be by your side for good follow-through)

The hardest part about hitting is the timing.  Always start your approach behind the 10 foot line.  Usually, you approach using 3 steps.  If you are right handed, take your first step towards the ball with your left foot, make sure it is a BIG step!  Should be literally running toward the ball to get momentum.  You don't want to fall into the net though, so as you land your first step, you want to bring both feet together (you should be well balanced) and bend the legs.  You want to jump as the ball starts falling from the highest point, and make sure you contact the ball over your head.

Volleyball can be somewhat of a complicated sport, but the more you practice - the better!  Good luck, you can e-mail me if you have more questions.

  4. here are some website that have drills to practice!  These will help you become a better player and more accurate. I love volleyball its my favorite sport!  My coaches used these website to find drills.

  5. Ummm, you can't learn to accurately pass & learn how to hit from a computer screen. You need to go out there & practice, practice, practice. Seriously. Looking at the computer will do you no good. You'll probably make jv without being able to hit. no offense.

  6. for bumping:

first you clasp your hands together. make sure your thumbs are lined up with one another NOT on top of each other. you could break your thumbs if the ball happens to land on that. when you clasp your hands together, straighten your arms and keep them straight when bumping the ball or the ball could go backwards or even in your face. the ideal spot you want the ball to land is your forearm area because when your arms are straight, the forearms make a somewhat flat surface. this is called the plank. make sure you get UNDER the ball.

after contacting the ball, DONT SWING YOUR ARMS! that's super important because swinging causes you to not have control on the ball. instead use your legs and lift up with your arms. that's why people say squatting is important in volleyball. where you're pointing your shoulders is important because that's how you aim. so if your pointing it towards the outside of the court, that's where it's going to go.

    for hitting:

when hitting, you want to have a good "approach" to the ball. this means you should have good footwork right before you jump. if your a righty, you should start out with the left foot in front with your weight on the back right foot. after the ball is passed from the setter, you want to start your approach when the ball is about halfway between you and the setter. meaning it's at the highest possible height it can go. once it's there, you want to take one giant step towards the net with your right foot and then do a quick left-right as soon as the ball is above the net.

while this is happening, you want your arms to be in almost a serving position. meaning your right elbow (again assuming you're a righty) is slightly bent in the back with your left arm extending. once the ball is within the best height, contact the ball with your right hand, swinging and follow through. the faster you do this, the harder and more speed the ball has. when you land make sure you don't touch the net! you could get called on that.

timing is everything when it comes to hitting.

as they say, practice makes perfect. so don't give up! :]]

p.s if you're a lefty, just do everything with the opposite hands/arms/feet/legs
