  1. hello - go you your states unemployement website.  it will tell you there what your benefits will be based on your current income.


  2. Consider what's the minimal that you will need to survive (paying bills, rent or mortgage, and minimal necessary for house needs) and consider that you will take at least 1 month to get to another job (bad market nowadays), so you will need to have at least 1 month of savings if you are laid off. This will help you survive without struggling in the case you are laid off. If you are of the type more concerned, then save at least 3 months. The money can always be used to a sinister (accident, doctors, etc) if you are stable in another job position.
