My boyfriend is very stressed out lately, and he's been losing sleep lately.

He claims he "just can't turn his mind off" so it causes him to stay awake.

What do you do to clear your head? Or do you have any tips?

I also have the same problem sometimes, my mind is racing with all kinds of thing and I can't go to sleep because of it.

  1. A good way to relieve stress and clear your head before going to bed is to do some yoga exercise. There are many tapes/DVDs out there to help teach you specific postures for this particular problem. You can check Amazon, or YogaHealthBooks.com, they have books, DVDs and equipment. Also there is a great articles on stress and yoga at http://stress.about.com/od/tensiontamers...

  2. I have the same thing, I just write down my ideas. My thoughts are always the most clear late at night when I'm laying in bed, and when I wake up I have totally forgotten about them. Typically i'm so busy throughout the day that laying in bed is really the only time you have to think. He should take some time to relax and get some peace and quiet.

  3. Some one would say that it sounds like ADHD or the like but I always think back over my day starting with everything that I can remember about my day.  I start with my waking up and follow my day until I am asleep.  Belive me, your day is really boring and it will put you to sleep.

  4. I concentrate on relaxing my body from my toes to my head.

  5. small glass of wine or meditate a little with small relaxing deep breath or try taking a warm bath these are stress relievers.

  6. I had the same problem, and this page helped me:

  7. when i was pregnant, i could sleep, and i did this every night, i swear it worked...

lie down, get comfortable in a position. then, force your mind to your toes, and concentrate on two things: counting slowly and relaxing your toes. keep counting, dont stop, and shift your focus to completely relaxing your feet, while keeping yout toes relaxed. keep counting, and relax your shins. while still counting, focus on relaxing your knees. do this all the way up your body (when you get to your arms, just go with the flow, if you want to skip them, start at your shoulders, or start at your finger tips, do whatever you feel like). you should be still counting, and once you get to your neck then head, start over at the very beginning if you dont feel 100% relaxed. i have never had to do it more than twice.
