  1. don't even try to clip their teeth yourself! just buy it some wood blocks from the pet store to chew on, it keeps their teeth naturally shaved down

  2. My daughter gives her rats wooden sticks to chew so it wears the teeth down. Also, they have veggie wheels that are hard they gnawl on for the same reason. They sell them at Wal Mart and other stores that carry pet supplies.  Good luck.

  3. take it to the vet, don't try to do that yourself, you could really hurt it. in the future, put something in its cage for it to gnaw on. petstores sell things like that.

  4. give him something to gnaw on ...he can do it himself

  5. you can clip your hamsters teeth. just follow these steps:

    1. Get a friend or someone to help you if its ur first time.

    2. Get your 'helper' to hold the hamster by the scruff of its neck and under it's bum , this does not her/him, and makes the hamster 'smile' so you can see the teeth.

    3. Have a small pair of clean nail clippers ready.

    4. Make sure the tounge or cheeeks arent in the way, put the clippers are around the bottom teeth.

    5. Clip them and make sure the teeth clippings dont fall into the hamsters mouth.

    Hope i helped you!

  6. Personally i think it's best that you don't try and do it yourself.Have you got a Blue Cross or charitable trust you can take him to?

  7. you can not clip them it will hurt it to bad, they make chew blocks for that, let him shave them down naturaly with the blocks!

  8. Well, if your hamster has plenty of chew toys, you shouldn't have to worry about long teeth. Just give him/her lots of wooden toys, salt blocks, and hard food, and that should get them right down. (Some hamsters will even feast on plastic!)

Also, if they already have toys like these, are you sure they're too long? Their teeth grow constantly, and while they may look long, they could just be normal.

Unless you've got a vet license or lots of experience, you do NOT want to make trimming your hamster's teeth a DIY project. It's a bad idea. You're more likely to hurt your hamster. If you really love the little guy, you should shell out the $40 or find him a new home.

  9. give him hard things to chew on like wood, dog biscuits, rawhides, and hay. also give him hard foods like carrots and nuts

  10. just buy one of those wood filing blocks for it to chew on.

  11. give it seeds and other hard stuff to chew on

  12. just like a lot of these people have said, get something for ur hammie to knaw on (u might wanna get more than one, cause his teeth will never stop growing). getting him something like a block of wood would be the safest and most natural way to trim ur hammies teeth.
