There are very stark contrasts between the two.

First off, Chelsea was bought by an individual entrepreneur (however wealthy) not by a multi million dollar corporation.

Secondly, Abromovich's arrival at the bridge continued a revival that began in 1993. Which since, we have ALWAYS had a place in the top 6. With victories in the FA Cup and Cup winners Cup.

In contrast Manchester City has won squat in 30 some years.

What im saying is, Yes Chelsea was transformed when Abromovich bought them but there was already something in place to be worked with.

Man. City finished 9th last season. Best they can hope for is 6th at best.

  1. why not?!? c**p compares with c**p

  2. Yes there are stark contrasts between the two, the main one being... Chelsea would have been declared bankrupt by now if Roman Abramovich hadn't of bought them, so trying to claim Chelsea would have still been where they are now is just delusional! If Roman hadn't of bought them then Chelsea would have been more then likely non-existent!

  3. LMFAO I have never laughed so much Ken Bates purchased them for £1 they were bust and he used the same tactics hes used at leads to eradicate the debts. Chelsea were top 6 in a league that was chopping and changing with two super powers Arsenal Man Utd with a team breaking in that was built on big money Blackburn Rovers.  Chelsea when they won the League Title how many players were there from the Ranreiri Side? Lampard, Terry, all the rest were purchased by Mouriniho. so don't say money dosn`t make a team. United only improved to Euro level when they could compete financially with Real Madrid and AC Milan. I have not mentioned Liverpool as they have not been a Title winning side since Dagleishs days. Only Arsenal and Man utd a threat this year. Chelsea already in strife. Divisions between manager and board already there, Scolari was promised unlimited funds and now he realises their is now a cap on spending. eight million on a old player Deco is ok but 30 million on Robiniho is beyond them now. and don't mention Kaka as that was all paper talk no bid was ever placed. Scolari will be the next to go working with the same disunited team that Grant had. so no trophies this season and Big sale on has beens next season when Roman Cuts his Losses and invests in Liverpool a team with abit of history.

  4. Chelsea always grabs the best that they can afford, and yet, they can't produce.  Man City on the other hand isn't as good as chelsea, but they are an above average team that has great chemistry.

"Skill wins games.  Teamwork wins championships"

  5. chelsea are now a poor man city

  6. They're not compared on history but because they are both teams thats have/will have, huge farcical amounts of money poured into them to make them more successful.

For that reason alone, they have something in common.

Maybe you're a Chelsea fan, I don't know... but you're right in that they weren't quite as average as Man City has been.

  7. but don't you gotta start somewhere? manchester city did show flashes early on last year but then went into a killer losing streak. i'm assuming your referring to robinho in your comparison so have you ever thought about it from his perspective? real madrid was not going to sell him to chelsea because of the chances of playing against him unless chelsea paid ridiculous money or threw in some proven players. robinho wanted out but with no other real options, why not to manchester city where who cares if he doesnt win any silver but still gets a HUGE pay increase and is allowed to play in the most commerical league in the world. cha ching!

  8. i think man city fans deserve it because they have stuck with the club through all the $hit, they've endured the lower leagues and stuff. let them have their day. it'll be nice to see man united sweat when they have some real rivalry in their city.

they wont exactly be winning the league this season, but next summer i can see them buying everyone in sight.

what i would love to see is every team get taken over by a ridiculously rich person, then that would really level the playing field.

everyone knows man city fans are the only true fans in manchester anyway.
