  1. i guess recycling and running and walking around more.

  2. Replacing grass lawns with a plant that does not need cutting and survives the winter.

  3. If we don't do something soon we will all die and that's the whole and total truth. The rising heat and ocean levels are a sign that we need to do something about it right NOW or will all die from the amount of the suns rays that are heating Earth at a high rate. That's why we need to plant a lot more trees and find alternative fuels as quickly as possible!

  4. This is a little something we can all do to help conserve energy and the environment:

Replace one or more light bulbs in your house with compact fluorescent bulbs. If every house swapped out just one regular bulb for an eco-friendly one, the world would be doing so much better right now!

    Other ideas:

Adopt-A-Highway: get a group of people to dedicate a weekend or two a month to help clean up the garbage off of our nations highways, or better yet: Don't be a litterbug!!!

    Recycle

Reduce the amount of garbage you throw away, stop using paper plates, just wash and reuse glass plates. Create a compost pile/heap in your backyard with natural food scraps from your house, like fruit and vegetable peels.

Reuse things, be resourceful! Don't throw away a shoebox you're not using, there are tons of things you can do to reuse it, thus keeping it out of our already full landfills!

Do other things in the summer to keep cool besides blasting your air conditioning. Make iced tea and lemonade. Buy or make Popsicles.

Ask for paper bags at the grocery store, or take your own grocery bags with you. Accepting plastic bags, and thus increasing the demand, causes increases in oil prices because oil is used to create those plastic grocery bags! And if you do get the paper ones, reuse them! They make great garbage bags at home and you can fashion them into crafts with kids!

Walk to work or other places if you can and the place is near enough, emissions from cars are polluting the air we breathe! And if you do have to use a vehicle to get somewhere, buy Chevron gas, it burns cleaner and is better for the air! That is what that Techron stuff in their gas does! Or, buy a bike!

If you change the oil in your car at home, make sure you recycle or dispose of it properly at a nearby County facility. If oil is just dumped somewhere, like in the gutter or your lawn, it (and all the yucky stuff in it) gets into your groundwater, which then gets into you if you drink from the tap.

These are just some of the things you can do to help save our planet, for other ideas, do some research, you'll be amazed at the stuff you can learn!

  5. the best we can do as individuals is be more responsible ,in our own neck of the woods

organise well publicized clean up parties ,talk on the radio

    have citizan meetings

get the shools involved to plant trees and listen to environmental awareness talks,

that is what we do in Mexico

    POSITIVE ACTIONS

print Tshirts with slogans ,hang posters all over the place (with recycled paper if possible)

classify trash take out all the organic waste and make compost with it ,the worst you can do is throw it with the trash

70% of contamination is due to organic waste that is mixed in with the garbage .

and it is just as bad in the sewer where it helps to breed rats and in the landfill it poisons the ground

and it is the easiest to take care of

o first of all we have to clasify trash at least keep the organic to one side ,like in a plasic bin with a lid

if you got a few meters of ground ,you only need 1 or 2 square meters in a shallow hole ,in the shade ,that you can wet now and again ,where you dump everything that is organic ,from toilet paper, bones vegetable cuttings ,eggshells,,dead bodies ,excrement ,and cover regularly with leaves to keep humid and to hide any smell

the worms will come and decompose the wastes truning it into beautifull blck soil for the garden of flower pots .

if you are in a apartment ,if you have a balcony get a big plastic bin drill some holes in the side and lid ,

and add a few buckets of sand now and again to put over the trash ,you should realt stir or move the stuff at times to airate it and ensure that the decomposition is overall ,keep moist

this rubbish does not get big very fast and the thing works for a long time with out getting full

got a compost heap in the garden for 6 years ,have added tons of banana poles ,and palm leaves at times tree trunks ,the mountain goes up and down and never seems to get any bigger ,the stuff rots and becomes a very fine black compost of high density

    ------------------------------...

global warming cannot be stopped but we can stop helping it becoming faster, and being friendlier to out Environment cannot be bad

if you do any cleaning up leave signs behind saying who cleaned, why and ask people not to start dumping rubbish again ,leave a hole or bins ,in case people come with trash ,

we have done a lot of comunity cleaning and if you dont leave alternatives or try to work on peoples guilt feelings (some people actually have those ,but not many)

than your efforts are a waste of time.

if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

    the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

    education on environmental awareness

education on family planning to curb over´population

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

    recicling wastes,limit water use

here are a 100 more ways

  6. anything , from recycling your paper, used battery's,plastics, driving your bikes ,walking instead of driving, find ways not to use your cars for 7 days and how much you have  saved to

  7. ride bikes/walk

turn off and unplug when not in use

make one of these solar panels for you house http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2007/...

    buy a hybrid

    reduce reuse and recycle

don't smoke or do anything like that to pollute the air

hang ur clothes to dry instead of using the dryer

buy an energy efficent washer only wash big loads at a time

only wash the dishes when the dish washer is full

get well water or only flush 3-5 time a day

tell other people about these things so they can help ")

  8. i have a design to build a prototype moter that dose not use fossil fuels .

  9. Stand up for what you believe in.  Recycle and if you can get a fuel efficient car and solar panels.

  10. - Ride a bike, carpool, or walk to nearby destinations

    - Do not litter.

    - Don't dump chemicals, batteries, or cellphones-  instead take them to nearby toxic waste stations.

    - Get more environmentally friendly cars such as electric, hybrids, or biofuel cars.

    - Mow lawns less

    - Compost food scraps.

    - Recycle glass, plastic, paper, and cardboard.

    - Ask for paper bags instead of plastic bags since paper bags are reusable.

  11. Here's a list of some of the things that come to mind:

    - take mass transit, walk, or bike, rather than driving (even if it's just once a week)

    - buy locally-grown food (which does not have to be transported by air)

    - try to reduce the number of trips you take by plane

    - ensure your home is well insulated

    - use your air conditioner and heater only when no alternative is available (such as putting on a sweater or opening the windows)

    - reduce the amount of garbage you produce (for example, by using your own bag while shopping, rather than plastic ones)

    - use energy-efficient light bulbs

That's all I can think of right now, even though there are many more things you can do.  These are just a few, very simple ways that you can help conserve the environment.

I hope that answers your question, to some degree,

    A.M.

  12. the old adage is always overlooked --keep it simple stupid-- So what is more simple than the Sun? basicaly my idea is, is for the people in Power, to put into place a systom wherebye every householder can install a Solar Electric systom,, the instalaton cost could be dramaticaly reduced by Goverment, assistance, and paid off with the savings recouped from power usage,, any over is then transfered  back into

the Grid and again the user is paid ,no one loses , if we could only cut by half the output required by the populaton, just think off the relief on our strained resores , As the population grows, it does too,and thats before any industurie usage,, IT definataly works, as a school is self sufficent on solar here in Rockhampton ,,just think ,no Nuclear building cost, and best of all no waste that cant be got rid of safely, the output of power station requirements for coal slowed thus less greenhose effect,, and demand on our dwindling water,so the stupidity,, is,, in time ---NO WATER,

    POLLUTED UNBREATHABLE AIR,,, AND

DONT LET US FORGET the russian disaraster,,, I feel from what has happened, and is still day by day, the writing is on the wall,,, iam 65yrs of age and a very quiet type person,, but my oberservation is from years past and the climatic changes,,we are heading for doom so fast,,,so while there is still time to halt it ,,and not look at the almighty dollar for today ,, only two,, choices tomorrow we live ,,-or die ,,=rich for some ,,but stll DEAD ,, THE choice

    is ours...

  13. Recycle. Buy a hybrid. Reduced car usage. Reduce water usage. Reduce your output of trash. Encourage others to do the same. Patronize companies that provide environmentally friendly products and programs. Don't pollute. Pick up other people's trash when walking. Walk instead of drive. Purchase goods that contain minimal to no packaging that cannot be recycled. Save some land, stop eating meat. Eat all of your food. Save the rain forest. Donate to causes that support environmental preservation. Turn off lights when not in use. Unplug items when not in use. Don't be afraid to open the windows for fresh air and sunlight. Get off of the computer and get active in preserving our environment.

  14. Whenever i see trash especially in the great outdoors i pick it up and if necessary hike it out, i have a composter that recycles the veggie scraps and such saving about 20%less trash going to a landfill, i always either give stuff i don't need  or want anymore to people i know or the local food bank that also gives out clothes dishes and the like. have been recycling aluminum cans, glass, and cardboard our local landfill will take for free if you bring it in so i do.

  15. Don't liter, get a group together to make a difference. As little as it may seem, if people get involved and do just a little and spread the word and make it commonplace, just think of the changes that can occur.

Go to town meetings about zoning and over development. Rally about getting trees planted for everyone they take down, you can make that a town ordinance.

Did you know the more a town recycles the less garbage goes to landfills and the town you live in doesn't have to pay that much in load costs. You can save the environment and your town taxes. The savings goes back to the town budget. Get involved...get involved right now!!

  16. Well. the very first step taken in the right direction is what you are doing...

ASKING.. from there, you get the answers and then whatever suites your nature, you embrace them and make it part of your daily routine..

Some of the simple things that can be started with yet has a very big impact is through recycling, finding out information about the environment and telling peopel about its importance..

You can also join established organizations that promote environmental conservation like WWF (more towards animals na dwildelife plants... ) Find active organizations in your country and help them out..

There are many more options as mentioned earlier,,

    All the best!  ;)
