Ok, so I have a sweet tooth, and even though I can control my eating pretty well, during my period it's a complete nightmare. The cravings are like 10x stronger and I almost always gain like 5 lbs. How can I distract myself from the craving and control it?

  1. I just had 6 ice cream sandwiches... lol guess I don't have your answer...

But what I'm trying to do more of now is drink more water to fill me up! That way I'm not as hungry and I'm not craving it cause im already full.

    Plus, water helps with cramps!!!

If that doesn't work, get those small sugar free candies or mints or something and eat those instead :)

  2. This is my philosophy.

I eat well and exercise 26 days of the month. So eating fast food, candy and not exercising for 3 days won't kill me.And it won't kill you either.Just remember if you feel fat during your period is it the bloating and water weight.I almost always feel better after my period has ended and laugh at myself for thinking I gained 5lbs!

  3. Haha, I don't think many women have the answer to this one. I DO have a hard time refraining from chocolate (mass quantities of it, I might add) during that time of the month, but one thing I try to do is keep only a certain amount in my house. I try to portion it throughout the week, and when I run out, I just run out. A lot of people say things like, "Keep veggies and water on hand!" but I think that's a joke. Veggies and water are not really what you want to see when you're about to die for sweets ;). Basically, just portion your sweets. They do make you feel better, but if you only eat a small amount, you won't regret it afterward. It has worked for me so far :)

I've also noticed that when I stay active during my period, I have MUCH less cravings. I go running, sometimes go to the gym, etc. I have to make myself do it some days because I feel so awful, but it always makes me feel better. This might be helpful for handling cravings too.

Best of luck, and I hope that you find what works for you.
