My friend has fetish issues and his 'hunger' grows everyday. How can I make his 'hunger' calm down. Or is there a cure?

  1. Ummmm unless he has a problem with his fetish that he wants it fixed there is nothing to be done about it.  I would be considered a "fetish person" but i have no desire to "fix" it.  And even if he does, there is nothing YOU can do.  He could see a therapist.  Thats about it.

  2. Some therapy perhaps. Fetishes can't be eliminated in the conventional sense. They're part of sexual attraction which is sort of hard-wired in at a very low, primitive level of the brain. If his fetish is interfering with his life, some counseling or cognitive behavioral therapy may help him regulate his behavior and needs a bit better.

  3. By using the term "cure", I think you're misunderstanding what a fetish is.  By definition, a fetish is an inanimate object that they can't perform sexually without.  If the spuposed "fetish" is for feet or b*****s... or maybe for latex, leather, pantyhose, etc... it's really more of a fixation... since they're body parts and/or it's you or he wearing the items that excite him.

A fixation does not have the disruptive and often, unhealthy ramification upon the life of the person and their loved ones like an addiction does.  Addictions are such strong compulsions that they interfere with healthy activities, relationships, etc.

You're friend's sexual "hunger" can have other, more "normal" activities substituted in place of what ever you say his "fetish" is for... but ignoring it won't make it go away.

In fact, denying the desire can cause him or her to become obsessed with it, which is dangerous... as it can become a priority over health, relationships, careers, etc.

Indulging in the behavior, or a variation of it, can be a way to "normalize" some fixations, or to enjoy them in moderation, which for some particular sexual fixations, can actually cause them to seem less "taboo" and eventually, they lose their allure.

Obviously, if the "fetish" is something illegal, dangerous, unhealthy, or  immoral, then it shouldn't be humored.  If that's the case, then care enough about them to get them some help before something bad happens to them or someone else.

    Good luck to you both!

  4. YOU can't do anything. When your friend wants to change he will. A fetish is harmless but if it turns into addiction then it needs to be addressed. But there is nothing you can do for him. Maybe you need to seek help for yourself and look into why you want to save him.
