I have three pygmy goats. Two does and a buck. How do you determine how much hay to feed each of them? The does are about 1 year old and the buck is about 6 months. They always act like they are hungry, but a goat will practically eat itself to death. Help???

  1. you should do is go out to it with alot of hey and just see how much he eats dont over feed him you should know when to stop

  2. No, a goat will not eat itself to death.

Goats should have free access to as much hay or grass as they want.  It helps them keep a healthy rumen along with maintaining a good weight.  A small amount of grain or pelleted feed once or twice daily is also a good idea.  Make sure they always have salt, minerals, and clean water available as well.

  3. If i was you i would call a vet and ask them because i you don't went them to die so CALL.
