I'm trying to eventually get into med school, and I was just wondering how you are supposed to keep track of your volunteer work? Is there any valid proof of your volunteering?

What's the best way of legitimizing your volunteer hours?

  1. Keep a notebook. Write down where you volunteered and for how long. Find the person in charge and have them sign your notebook.

  2. Keep a journal or logbook. Ask the place you volunteer at to start having a volunteer sign in book.

  3. I am a volunteer pastoral Eucharistic Minister with the local Catholic hospital.  My assigned hours are six days a month with 2 hours each day taking Holy Communion to those who are ill.  I have to sign in on those days to record my hours.  A secretary in the volunteer office records them monthly and they are totaled for the year.  The hospital notifies me of my yearly totals.
