  1. Protonix has been documented as indicating false positive results for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).  If this is what you tested positive for, then you have a strong medical case.  If the prescription from your doctor is for 80 mg daily, then your case is even stronger.  If you were taking Protonix in amounts that exceeded your prescription, then your case is a little less certain (i.e., why were you taking medication not in accordance with your prescription... is it drug abuse or were you trying to mask your pot smoking with a medical excuse?)

Assuming you were taking the prescribed dose, then present information from the below page to your HR department.  A stronger approach would be to go to you pharmacist and ask for a printout/copy of the PDR page for Protonix.  The below caution/interaction warning should be enough to get your job back if you were fired solely based on this drug test.

With a little more information, your case can be very strong.  This includes other urine indicators concentrations, combined with the time of your test compared to when you take your meds.  Let's say you took your pills 3-4 hours before your test and you were slightly dehydrated, then this would cause the out of normal concentration of "THC" detections.  Cross checks including chloride, albumin, specific gravity, and urea would confirm this.  If they don't have this data as a check on urine density, then their defense is weaker.

If things line up correctly, then you have a very strong case for a wrongful termination with compensation for losses and mental distress incurred.  This is when you lawyer up s***w them for dicking you over after 12 years of service.

I hope this answers your question.
