Hi there, please help.....

I bought 3 panasonic dvd-r discs to record my wedding on. Got my mate to record it cos i was busy getting married, one of the discs finalised but the other 2 did not. my camcorder says it cant read the discs but you can see that there is data on there.

As a result 2 discs dont work, you can imagine how sick i am.

Would be happy of any suggestions.

  1. What are friends for?? Anyway have you tried to play them on a PC?? Sometimes it will play on a PC without finalizing. I would also suggest visiting your camcorders manufacturers support site and peruse the FAQ's section. You never know. I hope you have volunteered to be the cameraman for his wedding!

  2. I would have a professional look at them, can you play them on a TV's dvd player? I know they have to be finalized before they can play in a PC's DVD player, but if you know someone who has a stand alone DVD recorder, it might play in that and you might be able to finalize. My friend had a home DVD(reg size) that someone had put some vhs footage on and it didn't play, I brought it home to see if I could do anything with it, it wouldn't play on anything I own except my dvd recorder, my sister suggested I try to finalize it and I did and it worked, so not sure if it would work with a DVD camera dvd. The dvd recorder can be used just like a VHS recorder, so if you bought one, (around 80.00, you could use it for recording from the TV.
