I am looking for a way to find out if someone has a lawsuit against a clinic, doctor or hospital. I can't get information because of the HIPPA laws. Is there a website I can go to that don't charge? I've already been on my state medical board. Thanks for any legitimate answers this is very important.

Oh yeah, just in case you are wondering, my son and his girlfriend lost a baby and she's trying to sue without him so his name will not appear on any legal documents. She has been lying to us about who her lawyer is so we can't get information on the suit. She will not give him any of the medical records. He even hired a lawyer and he wasn't any help.

  1. "Oh yeah, just in case you are wondering, my son and his girlfriend lost a baby and she's trying to sue without him so his name will not appear on any legal documents. She has been lying to us about who her lawyer is so we can't get information on the suit."

Chances are there was either no baby or the baby wasn't his.  Or she self aborted and then went to the hospital and claimed miscarriage.  There is probably no lawsuit.

  2. go to the public records office of the county in which the clinic is located. unless they have been sealed by the judge you are free to inspect. records are not normally sealed before a case is adjudicated.

  3. try the better business bureau

  4. If I understand this correctly, you think she's trying to cash in on the loss of the baby without your son, and you want to find out what her progress is. Why? To claim a portion of the settlement? What do you care? I'm not even sure your son has any standing to file a suit against the clinic or his girlfriend.

Lawsuits are public record the moment they're filed, so if your son's lawyer couldn't find anything it's because she hasn't gone that route yet. Her lawyer and the doctor's/clinic's lawyer can talk off the record and work out a settlement privately, though, in which case you'll never know the details or if it even happened.
