How can you find out if someone has a life insurance policy on your (own) life?

  1. Someone cannot just get a policy on your life. You have to sign an application and have a medical examination.


  2. The only exceptions are if you were a minor when the contract was taken out (in which case the face amount is very limited and it would have to be your parent or grandparent as owner) or if there is a contractual insurable interest (in which case the insurance company would not insure your for anything close to the lost value of the contract if you were unable to perform).  

    In other words, don't be paranoid.  An insurance company would never let you be worth more dead than alive because THEY would run too much risk.

  3. Tom is right ..... someone cannot just take out a life insurance policy insuring yourself without you knowing about it.  there are tests and documents you have to sign to get a life insurance policy, even if someone else owns the policy and pays the premiums.
