so my parents have a ok sized yard in arizona and they thought it would be a good idea to put a flagstoned patio/deck on the side of the yard with a fire pit...however one of the pipes in our pool burst and the yard was drenched for days...when it was finally fixed the flagstone got orange stuff on it and in the grout. Now it is flaking off the top layer and my parents bought sealer but they dont know what they can do to make sure the flagstone doesn't flake off or get further damaged!!! What do you think we should do??? What can we Do???

  1. flagstone is just slate, which is sedimentary rock, which flakes naturally anyways.  the orange color is probably rust staining.  i would recommend brushing it down with CLR cleaner or another rust cleaner, and then pressure wash it.  it may flake some more, but nothing you can do about that.  after it's all clean,  and dry, put down your sealer
