How can you fix a DVD that skips?

Buff toothpaste into it with your finger .I have saved many cds this way .I use colgate .Use water and tooth paste .

Try cleaning it with a soft clean cloth lightly moistened to remove any dust or finger prints. If it is really scratched badly then you can also use car polish, I have seen this work. There are also kits available from good stores that will do the work for you.

Try adding weight to the DVD. That way it should thud instead of skipping :) Actually, wax does work ok for scratches. Are you sure it's the DVD or is it the player? Skipping can be caused by a dirty laser lens in the player. If that's the case buy a lens cleaner for the DVD player.
