How can you gain more traffic for your blog?

I'm writing a novel on Wordpress and have had a blog on Blogger for a while now. I've signed up on BlogExplosion, BlogHub, BlogLines and Rojo and PingGoat and yet, I haven't increased on traffic. I used Bravenet's traffic exchanged but I've only gained three viewers. Any suggestions?

I'm guessing you're trying to make money from hit stats. The answer is simple. Spam. Collect 100's of E-mail addresses and send the link to their inbox. Go into chatrooms and post your link numerous times. Pretty soon you'll have 1000's of hits. It's the cold hard truth. You could become rich if you put a little bit of effort into it.

You could even go as far as IMing people the link to your blog. Don't try this on AOL though.

Another thought, yet less efficent way would be to simply ask people to visit your blog.

Myspacing is another way. Create a Myspace, collect 1000's of "friends" and post bulletins telling people to check it out. Also get a mass myspace commenter and send them comments with your blog url. If you make it interesting enough, then their "friends" will aslo click it. Pretty soon you'll have thousands of hits a day. You could make some serious extra cash. There's also sites such as Tagworld and Mindviz. There's 100's of ways to get more traffic to your blog!! Good luck!
