Question:

How can you get Plaster of Paris out of the carpet?

Our two year old got into of a bucket of Plaster of Paris and dumped it all over the carpet. We've vacuumed it over and over. However, you can still feel it in the carpet.

My question is: Can you use a RugDoctor (steam carpet cleaning machine) on it without it clogging up the RugDoctor and/or ruining the carpet?

(Can you imagine trying to remove a Plaster of Paris board/carpet from your home? LOL!)

  1. Phone several carpet cleaning places and see how they would tacke this job and what they advise.  In this way you receive several opinions from the experts and at that time you will be better able to chose the best method.

Also you could email the Plaster of Paris manufacucter's and ask how you might remove this product from your carpet.  They, knowing the product might have some great suggestions.

If all fails...do a test on a small section of carpeting with a steam cleaner.  Hopefully you will have good results!

  2. Don't use water! Please!

Acid dissolves it. Use Vinegar or Lemon.

    Love you! Calling you!

    Love in Christ.

  3. I would suggest you buy the foam carpet and upholstery cleaner

clean one section at a time. spread the foam, work it into the carpet, let it dry and then vacuum it up.

It is lots of work but if you want to save the carpet - I think it is the best way.

The steam cleaner will re-active the plaster particles, and could make things worse.

    Good luck

  4. you vacuumed up most of it. Are U using a vacuum with a beater brush on it ?

You can use a rug doctor and it wont clog anything since you are jusr getting up the dust.

  5. Put a paper bag over it & hit it with a hammer. It's probably sticking to the carpet.

Get a pro to clean it, their machines have enough suction to get anything deep down.
