It depends first of all on your computer. There are various types of editing software. The most widely used, professional and consumer types are adobe premiere and final cut pro. There are also some lower end versions and freeware versions, but there is a big difference between the lower and higher end versions.

you can either purchase them or get them by other means. I reccomend premiere and final cut though. Both are amazing.
