My friend, who grew attached to me told me that you can get a fungus, and a wart(s) for going barefoot outdoors by walking on sidewalks, gravel, concrete, blacktop, etc. I told him I will not have that problem, and he told me it happened to both of his older brothers, and he even showed me is older (not oldest) brother a wart on the ball of his right foot, and told me it came from walking outside, and I told him that is not possible, because I go barefoot outside now and then and never had a fungus, and/or a wart. He lives in a home where you must remove your shoes; therefore, I take off my sandals and roam around the house barefoot, and just the other day, I had to move my minivan from the driveway, so his step-father can go into the driveway, so I just walked out of the house, stepped down the steps, which were cement, and walked to my car, which was on the driveway, and the driveway was blacktop, (or asphalt) and walked back into the house, and as soon as I came on the porch, which is an enclosed porch, told me abut the warts and fungus. Therefore, how can you get warts or fungus for going outside barefoot outdoors?

  1. did not know u could get a wart that way

  2. otoh, warts require a moist and warm environment to grow in and when you're walking barefoot you're not giving it to the pathogens.

Just keep your feet clean, wash them regularly when you get home.

The most common source of infection is actually other people that have them, not random chance.

Outside the body the bacteria that cause warts don't survive long, so unless you step onto a place where someone just walked past barefoot or in socks who has them the risk is minimal to non-existent.

And of course don't wear other peoples' shoes or socks unless you clean them thoroughly first.

  3. Warts are cause by either a fungus or a virus.  By going barefoot outside you are more prone to contracting the fungus or virus that causes warts.  It can enter the skin through pores or an open cut on your foot.
