  1. If you get too good at getting hit in the "face" you're going to get your brains scrambled.

Sonny Liston was known for his ability to take a punch (Cleveland Williams nailed him with a huge left hook and Sonny hardly wobbled).  Sonny used to stand on his head to strengthen his neck, which is the only way I have heard of for a boxer to improve his ability to absorb a punch.

If you want to avoid taking too much punishment to the head, you need to move into and under or to the side of head shots (particularly straight punches) rather than snapping your head back.  A punch coming your way will tend to reach its maximum velocity and power towards the end of its trajectory.  Even if you get caught when moving into a head shot, you should catch it before it reaches its maximum power.

  2. well i have learned pain is mental learn to concentrate on other things get a few tatoos in painful places it will test your endurance...but also if you want to know how to take pain you have to want to take pain you have to test getting hit you dont have to like it but you need to try it then after so much one day you may suprise yourself

  3. i think you are going about this all wrong,if your looking for boxing tips . you should concentrate on getting hit in the face as little as possible, work on defensive skills. some fighters work on neck muscles to take a better punch.maybe you should ask questions" like how do i block and slip punches?" unless you plan on standing still to let some punch you in the face, then maybe i would suggest using some novacaine or getting really drunk.i was pretty good at taking punches to the face when i was really drunk.

  4. u need to have strong chins, and hard face. and strong neck, so try to build up your neck muscles and u need to get used to getting hit in the face, there is really not much things to taking punches to the face.. u should learn how to avoid punches and learn good headmovements, boxing is good way to start to learn a good headmovement and avoding punches

  5. Most people don't want to get hit, you'll really need to focus on being a speed boxer like Ali, Byrd and Mayweather.  YOu won't be crowd friendly but you can win.  You will get hit though, no way you can go through a decent boxing career without out getting dazed.  Just like anything else you will become immune to the pain.

  6. Learn from the pros how to avoid getting hit

  7. Come here and I'll show you...

  8. don't get hit in the face as much as you can. being able to take a punch will happen as you train and toughen up in general. there is one thing that might help specifically with this is building neck muscle

  9. you cant get better getting punched in the face. i dont know where you heard this but it is wrong.

why would you want to do this?

  10. If you're talking about lessening the impact of the punch, then just turn or pivot your head with the punch just like Ali did later in his career.

  11. errr-far be it from me to question the experts in pugilism but is it not the object of the excercise NOT to get hit in the face??

  12. lol planning to be a professional fighter in the future? umm there is no real way to besides getting punched in the face and getting used to the feeling. you can also try not to go into a punch that way it is not as painful. y take punches to the face when u can dogde them?lol

  13. As others have said, the best idea is to avoid getting hit in the face.  But, since you might not be perfect at that, there is one way you can get ready for the punches that get through.  You can hit the speed bag away from you, and then let it fly back into your face a few times.  That way you'll know in advance what it looks and feels like.
