Question:

How can you get from Rennes to Dinan?

We are going to Dinan in the summer and are taking the TGV from CDG to Rennes. We arrive on Saturday and if we get the early train (arrives at 16.30), we take another few trains to Dinan no problems. However if we take the later train (arriving at 18.30), there doesn't seem to be any connections. I am basing this on the Winter timetable which goes up to 5 July. Does anyone have any ideas or the summer 2007 timetable from Rennes - Dol - Dinan? Thanks

  1. My husband and I missed a train connection once from Rennes to Dinard.  We asked a taxi driver if he could give us a flat rate and it was very reasonable.  We had a wonderful ride, saw more that we would on the train, wasted no time hanging around the train station, with little difference in price.  I would highly recommend it.

  2. As someone else said, summer schedules are not available yet.

But I wouldn't worry if I were you. With the winter schedule, there is a train at 21:50 pm on Saturdays, but I am sure they increase the number of trains in the summer to accomodate the large number of tourists, especially on Saturdays since vacation rentals run from Saturday to Saturday.

And as someone else said, it's only 33 miles to Dinan so a taxi is also possible, but I doubt you'll need one.

If you make the earlier train, you can also go to Dinan by bus instead of train although it's a little longer. In the summer there are buses leaving at 16:50 and 17:50. The trip is 1hr18min.

You should contact the Dinan tourist office for more information, they may know more about the frequency of trains in the summer based on previous years.

  3. Could have the summer 2007 at home. I'll go back on wednesday so I will check but as Milie said there one late in winter so it will be one in summer too.

  4. The summer timetable is not yet available.

However, there is a TGV train (reservations usually required) from Rennes at 20.58, arriving Dol at 21.41 and a coach transfer to Dinan shown on the SNCF website - cost £9.50.

Suggest you check again in a few months time when the summer timetable is available.
