How can you get spiders out from where they are hiding?

A spider just ran across and went straight into a crack near the fireplace i was wondering how i can get the spider out thanks

Try tapping around the crack gently with a cloth covered hammer. The vibration scares most spiders out if used in the right spot. Dim the lights because they tend to avoid it. I always try to catch spiders in a jar and let them outside, but in your situation I would just sprey the crack with bug killer.
