Honest time - I wish to move to Toronto and work and live over there. My partner wishes to come with me. We have no University degrees but we work hard. One is a Manager of a store and the other works in a Bank. We own our own property. No children. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to move there? And what are the steps I would need to take? I can't believe how difficult it is to move countries. But I guess rules are there for a reason. I'e been to websites that tell me about visas and stuff but a lot of them require Uni degrees for "points". Also I sometimes see greencards going for free. It's just a matter of picking them up. Is that a way to move? I don't want to move and go on dole/social security. I wish to live and work there...Can anyone PLEASE help?

  1. There are several ways and they include having a skill (currently) deemed desirable by Immigration Canada. These can range from chefs to computer engineers right now.

You must also reach a certain point level by having the skill, speaking English. having education, etc. I assume you will easily qualify for most of these.

The difficult part is going through the paperwork (which might tax your patience) and the wait which can be 2 to 3 years. However, if you are determined these should not be a problem.

Other ways for obtaining Canadian residency include marrying a Canadian, being hired by a Canadian firm upfront which is willing to indicate your skills are necessary, etc.

By the way, a Green Card is an American document.
