  1. DSL requires you to have a PSTN phone line coming into your house.  But, you do not have to have "active" phone service with you local phone company to get DSL Internet.

This is called "naked DSL" or "Dry Loop DSL".

The previos poster is probably correct with cost estimates.

  2. yes, you can....! ask ATT or Verizon for a dry ( naked) DSL line!!

ATT has a dry DSL line for 10 dollars a month for new customers....its very hard to find online, but you can ask for help...but ATT will treat you like dirt, because they don't make any money on you!!

  3. yes you can. U would need something calleda dry loop, which gives u enough of a digital and analog signal that you wouldnt need a phone line and a dial tone. I dont know where you are, but I know its this way with verizon. I work for them.

  4. DSL uses a modem. From what I remember, it was kind of expensive. If I were you, I'd price it and then look into getting internet service through the local cable company. Sometimes it's much cheaper to get a cable connection. I had a lot of connection problems with DSL.

  5. you need to get a landline first then order adsl, either wait out or terminate your telephony contract and keep your asdl subscription, although an engineer may pinch all or some of your line if it doesnt have 50v across it (no dial tone). may not happen though, just an extreme. or you could be OCB (outgoing calls barred) which is cheaper than full subscription ,otherwise get an i phone.....................

  6. Yes you need to have a land line to have DSL. You can get DSL now a days anywhere from 19 - 50 depending on the company and speed.
