  1. Use a speed bag and time your punches.  Gradually, try to improve on your old time.  I would recommend a Slam Man.

It's a human shaped electronic punching bag with targets that light up which tell you where to punch.

It's better than an ordinary punching bag as it can provide combinations for you and it's much better for motivation because it's more fun.  It basically acts as your very own boxing trainer.

I've got one of my own and it comes with gloves and an instructional DVD in the basics.  A human shaped target provides a more realistic training regime as well.

  2. Speed ball and speed bag

  3. Shadow box. Wrist weight will probably injur you if your not careful. Use a cable pully and emulate punching maneuvers with it. That will help.

  4. Yea, weights will slow you down, there is no need to incorporate weights into a boxing regime. Sparring, the speed bag, and the heavy bag are your main tools.

To build speed hit the speed bag. Speed can be trained somewhat, but some guys are just naturally fast. Really fast guys usually dont have allot of power.

Yes wrist weights will help, but you have to wear them all day everyday to see benefits, but they are uncomfortable, not really worth it for the small benefit your going too see.

Also practice the target mits, its another way to improve the speed and accuracy of your combos.

You can improve your jab speed by throwing the jab correctly,

  5. you can also shadow box with some 2-3 pound weights.

    sparring really helps too.
