How can you keep spiders out?

We just moved into a new home and I am noticing a lot of spiders around here. And not just little house spiders, I just killed a brown recluse. Is there any way of keeping those spiders out of my house and out of my yard. I do not want them to become a problem for us and our dog (a West Highland White Terrier).

You can't. Spiders are EVERYWHERE... Now if you DO have alot of Spiders, then it means you must have alot of Bugs for them to eat. Get RID of all the Bugs, and most of the Spiders will move out too. Your Options ARE; Pay lots O'  $$$- for an Exterminator to come in & take care of the Problem; Try to do it YOURSELF- with a few bug "Bombs" you can buy at the Hardware Store near You; OR- You can give your House AND Yard a REALLY thorough Cleaning- & HOPE you get rid of enough of the Bugs so that the Spiders decide to move on... (and make SURE your Dog is NOT in the House- when you do either of the first two Options I mentioned!). Good luck with your New Home!   :)

jesus i have the same problem

i am terrified of spiders. if there one on the wall in my room i have a panic attack and i wont sleep in that room until the spider is DEAD.

just call a pest control company and hav termite poison or pest poison sprayed around your house and you wont see one in your home for years

Soak cotton balls in oil of pennyroyal and leave them outside of your windows.

You can also burn incense or oils.
