How do you leave Ireland if you're underage?

My boyfriend and I want to leave and move somewhere new in the US but how can you buy a plane ticket, board a plane, etc if you're under 18? I'm 18 and an American but he's not 18 yet.

Any suggestions?

  1. just wait til he is 18, he is a bit young to move to the other side of the world yet, so ye both should enjoy it here while ye can xxxx

  2. It should be no real problem.  He needs a passport and a visa and that is it.  Most likely by the time he gets this done he will be 18 and can go easier.  No matter what age the passport and visa are required.

  3. as long as you have your passports, tickets and visa(your boyfriend) you can just leave! sounds exciting!

  4. From Ireland a valid visa and psychometric passport are required for all non US citizens if the trip to the US is anything other than a holiday.

You may encounter various problems where a person is under 18 - Check out with the American embassy is Dublin they will able to advise.

In Ireland people under 18 are not normally issued with a credit card - you will need one to travel / buy tickets etc

Wait until your both 21ish it will make things a lot easier & safer
