I need to keep my room unaccsessible for a weekend, from the outside. I need to enter my room from the outide by entering my combination and getting in. If someone could tell me how to do this without damaging my door or wall that would be great. Feel free to reccomend anything that may help, like using a chain or somthing.

  1. You'll probably need to buy a latch set. It will have a U-shaped loop that fastens to the door and a hinged flange that fastens to the wall and slides over the loop on the door. The lock is placed through the loop while the flange is closed against the door. Unluckily, this will require holes to be drilled into your door and door jamb.

You could buy a new locking door handle which would probably be a less intrusive installation.

  2. Why just change your latch set for a lock set of the same style.

ie back set etc. combination locks are usually bigger

and do damage to the door when installed. Just use a key instead
