I've got an idea, but It's a little more chain intensive than I would like. I need to store two kayaks outside in a city backyard for a month.

  1. I tie a long bike cable around the inside seat brackets.... That works.

  2. You may have to attach an eye bolt in some out of the way place. That would be the cheapest way.

Otherwise, you could use a rod that screws together (long enough to not be pulled out)  Put it together in the sitting space, then place a sleeve over the joint and lock it, and run the chain under it.
