How can you love yourself?

I've heard the saying, how do you expect people to love you if you don't love yourself. I don't understand that though. How can you love yourself? I don't like myself, but people still love me.

I have never analyzed this question until now. Under scrutiny I have to admit it's a bit of a wordplay. I think it is implying that the peace of mind & harmony we feel with the world shines through; others recognise it and are drawn to us.

I love myself. If you're happy with life, and like something about you're self. Also if you care about yourself.

Don't worry your not the only one who has felt this way ... i was before a fat ugly little girl and I was constantly made fun of ... i hated my-self. I hated my-self so much that I became depressed and wished to die. But when I went to a Christian school I was treated nicely and i wasn't made fun of. In my school i became closer to God and know I'm happier.

We all have a quality that we our-selves like, and some that we don't.

whether it be our weight or our nose, we need to realize that we are all aren't perfect. We shouldn't compare our-selves to those fake models and wish to be them. God loves us for who we are. And you said that people love you, If you don't like your-self ask those close to you that you need reassurance and confidence. Try to every day you list 3 things that you like about your-self, and not the same things.

That phrase of that " if you can't love yourself you can't love others", I feel that phrase isn't right. If it was true, there wouldn't be love in the world. We all don't "love our-self" but it would be true if it said "like" instead of "love"

Love is a very powerful word that people abuse ever day. Love is the feeling of soul mates or of God's love to his creation; us.

Sorry if the whole sad story was much or if my babbling isn't helpful, but I'm just trying to help. To wrap it up; Try to find what you like about your-self and let those close to you love (or like) the rest. No one is perfect, we can't "love" everything. But know that God loves every part of you and your heart. And I'm not abusing the word love.        ;D
