How can you make a forum popular?

I own a forum, but it isn't that successful. I've tried advertising, but I can't find enough sites which let you advertise... Can you give a list of where I could advertise, or how to make a forum successful?

advertise on google, and add loadsa different interesting topics, also tell ur frends! wats ur forum called? wat site is it on?

Hi,

I have a lot of experience marketing small companies online (I have 3 companies).  One of the best ways is to sign up at business directories and protals.  These are basically listings of businesses (simliar to the phone book).  The advantage is that these portals usually get a lot of traffic and they're ranked high on Google because of all the quality links they contain.

My favorite portal is called Directory Exclusive.  I signed up a few weeks ago because they're giving a away a free business card holder when a person enter's their company info.  I received it in the mail 3 days ago =)

- Submit your forum in all forums which is related to you.

- Just explain a small description about your forum.

- And emailing to everyone

- Submit your forum in orkut communities.

- Then do some link building work for your forum...

- Social networking site are very useful for the traffic increase. so just find some social networks and join in the community's discuss with your friends for your forum....

well there are forum directories out there aswell you know

there is aload of this info over at my site and some software you can use there to, find other related forums and use your signature and post reply's this is taken as a back link anyway with alot of search engines so this will help you

Hi,

There are many ways to market a small business on the web.  You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC.  However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.
