I have no idea how to cook them, or what to cook them with! I have gammon, couscous, potatoes, pineapple and eggs... how can I make it extra yummy without making a mess of it AND save the house from burning down? :P

Thank you for suggestions!

  2. Oh lordy...some more of your food that I have no idea what it is.

What's a gammon steak and maybe I can help! I love to cook and make up my own recipes 80% of the time.

Add: Ok, basically a pork steak is what I have found.

How about a US version? This is how I cook my hams.

Rub honey on the gammon steaks, mix some brown sugar and coke (or diet coke cause we KNOW you have one of those) and pour over gammon. Place pineapple on top, cover with foil and bake.

Cook up your cous-cous and some green peas and YUMMY.

Ohhh... so not like a big chunk of meat? Hmmmm...then that changes my plans. Yes, we Southerners use bacon to season everything!

    TD? Really? Already?

  3. put equal quantities of honey , whisky and cream in a pan , reduce it till it is sauce consistency and pour over your cooked gammon.....

  4. I always do gammon with chips, pineapple, mushrooms, egg and beans, lovely, l also have a bit of barbeque sauce.

Crysti... a gammon steak is like a really thick piece of bacon, have you heard of bacon?

  5. Maple gammon steak with creamed leeks and parsley oil

    Serves 1

Preparation time less than 30 mins

Cooking time 10 to 30 mins

    Ingredients

    For the maple gammon steak

    1 tsp olive oil

    1 gammon steak

    3 tbsp maple syrup

    For the creamed leeks

    1 tbsp butter

    ½ leek, finely sliced

    3 tbsp double cream

salt and freshly ground black pepper

    ¼ tsp paprika

    For the parsley oil

1 tbsp chopped fresh flatleaf parsley

    2 tsp olive oil

    Method

    1. For the maple gammon steak, heat the olive oil in a non-stick frying pan and fry the gammon for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.

    2. Add the maple syrup and simmer until reduced to a sticky glaze. Remove from the heat and keep warm.

    3. For the creamed leeks, heat the butter in a saucepan and sauté the leeks for 3-4 minutes, until soft.

    4. Add the cream and simmer for a further 3-4 minutes until thickened slightly. Season, to taste, with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

    5. For the parsley oil, mix the parsley and oil together in a bowl.

    6. To serve, place the glazed gammon steak onto a serving plate, top with the creamed leeks and drizzle over the parsley oil.

  6. Do you have any condiments at all - you know - spices, garlic, salt, pepper anything like that?

Grill the gammon that has been rubbed with some garlic or has it finely sliced on top, a k**b of butter, and sprinkle on a little bit of cumin or garam masala - these can be bought in supermarkets for about £1 a jar and come in useful for all sorts of things.

Grill the pineapple separately and place on top after the steak has been grilled.

Serve with either a salad or potatoes or couscous - but not both.

You can also make up a sauce of coconut cream, garlic and wholegrain mustard, heat it in the pan, simmer for five minutes and then pour over the griddled gammon steak.

They are actually just yummy on their own too.  You can also grill some apple wedges and serve that instead of the pineapple.

  7. I think you need to ask Milly for her recipe :) Sounds like she's got the idea! Gammon and Eggs! Oh and maybe do some fried potatos. Cube the potatoes and chop some onion and fry it up together with seasonings :)
