How can you make ice-cream without any ice?

I remember in 5th Grade, we made ice cream without any ice or the use of cold products (such as liquid nitrogen). Does anyone know how to do this?

  1. Crush frozen fresh fruit and you will have a nice smoothie.


  2. You do need the cold, but modern ice cream makers for use at home use a container that you freeze before you make the ice cream. Then once the container is frozen you dump the ingredients in the container and have the ice cream maker spin the container for an hour.

    In works because the container has an extra thick wall that has water in it. The water freezes to ice and stays cold long enough to freeze the ice cream while staying nice and neat.

  3. There's a way to do it with salt and water as well, though I also forgot.
